Bettany Sendris knows that going to the dour lord of Harrow Hall to plead for more time to pay her taxes is probably a fool's mission. However, with winter closing in on her tiny village, and barely enough food to put on her and her grandmother's table, she realizes she has no alternative.

But when the worst storm in decades strands her in Lord Greymount's gloomy castle, Bettany soon discovers that her presence there may bring some long-hidden secrets to light, secrets that could cost her more than just her heart.... (Book 7 of the Tales of the Latter Kingdoms)

Author’s Note While this is the seventh book in this series, all Tales of the Latter Kingdoms novels are written as standalone romances and can be read in any order.

The Wolf of Harrow Hall Tales of the Latter Kingdoms Book 7 eBook Christine Pope

Yes, this is a good romance story. It's not to much into the lovey duvy stuff. But it definitely has enough lead to go that way. Haha, it was good anyway. With you wanting to know how things were going to happen.
On top of that you are wanting to know if there are going to be more people in the past and definitely more people in the future that will fill out that huge castle and it's rooms. Or if it is to just be the few people that are there?
This could be and go in several ways. The admidete family there and then everyone else in their own homes out and around the castle. This way the name could grow with all the help living out and around them.
Goodness this could go in several ways. Please, please have a continuation of the tbe story line. Either with the family possibly getting getting bigger. Oh, so many different ways for the story to continue. This one, the story, leaves so many different ways for it to continue. The family, the main help, or the men of arms getting families. Or that they are able to keep the tale of the problem a secret,or to make it be a legend or a curse curse, or it could be a shund thing or a fack story. Or whatever.
I haven't looked to see if you do have another connecting story or not, but tbere are ways to go on. If only.... Haha, your tbe author. I just have a imagination of what it could be. Oh....

The Wolf of Harrow Hall Tales of the Latter Kingdoms Book 7 eBook Christine Pope Reviews

I am whiting this series immensely! Each of these Latter Kingdoms Books has been an interesting retell ing of well known fairytales, each one having its own unique twist. The stories are well crafted, with rich details that truly flesh out the world that they take place in. I am devouring this series!
This was a cute version of Red and her wolf. The heroine could be a bit simple but I suppose that is what she was raised as. Although, her voice is very similar to all the others in the series. Nevertheless, Pope has a lovely vocabulary and tells a nice story. I wish the endings were less rushed.
Very nice. The main characters did not bicker as they do in most romance novels. What a relief. No sex. Not that I would have minded but I found I didn't miss it either and the novel was good without it.
I have read the 1st 6 books and they were great. This one follows suit. All have been nice twists to our classic fairy tales. It's refreshing to see how someone else puts their own twist to it. Now excuse me, for I have book 8 & 9 to read.
I don't want to divulge the storyline, that is why I would recommend you read this for yourself. I will say thanks for a "clean read" as I was growing weary of other authors spending too much time and detail in the intimacy of their characters. It was left to our imagination for once, which allowed me to better follow the author's story. This was my first read by her, and I enjoyed it immensely.
Ms. Pope's twist on red riding hood's tale is a delight to read. The storytelling is gently paced, unfolding gradually and keeping you intrigued to its end. If you're a follower of her Latter Kingdoms stories you'll enjoy getting to know a little more about a culture first introduced in "Binding Spell", and if you haven't read "Binding Spell" I suggest that you do!
While this book had a good amount of potential, I found that it was mostly dragged down by its protagonist. Bettany is flat boring. She doesn't do anything except sit around for most of the book, waiting for her man to show up. This particularly jars with the picture the book set up of her in the beginning as an independent and resourceful young woman. I don't even see what the male lead really likes about her, to be honest, except that she's (slight spoiler) literally the first woman that he's seen in years (slight spoiler end). I will say that I enjoyed the ending. It was kind of a nice setup (if rather convoluted).

Overall, I guess I'd recommend this novel if you're just looking for a cheap medieval fantasy romance to while away a plane ride or something, but to be honest there's a lot more books like that out there, many of higher quality. Heck, try another one of this author's books! I've enjoyed at least one of them (Dragon Rose) quite a bit, so I know that Christine Pope can write engagingly. This book just fell short of that.
